Factory Production Control (FPC)

WHAT IS FPC?

Factory Production Control (FPC) is a documented control system used by manufacturers across the world to improve the repeatability and quality control of the products that they produce. Many businesses prefer to use FPC as it is more directly associated with helping them to produce a product which is fit for purpose. FPC does not have the levels of bureaucracy associated with other ways of documenting or controlling quality and traceability as is often displayed by ISO 9001 for example.

The new generation of Standards coming out of the European Union recognise that FPC is a vital element in the control of products where fitness for purpose is concerned and insist that FPC systems (for the purpose of CE Marking) are checked and authorised by Certification Bodies (known as Notified Bodies) under the CE Marking requirements for all construction products related to fire.

WHY IFC?

IFC is an abbreviation for International Fire Consultants Ltd (part of the IFC Group). Our company has been working with the fire industry for the last 20 years helping clients develop fit for purpose products – among other engineering activities within this new and exciting industry. In order to assist our clients with the requirements of today’s highly regulated world, we have produced a templated system which we believe will help our clients with matters of Quality Assurance.

THE PRINCIPLES

For each product type manufactured, fire doors, glazing systems or door handles’, there are always specific control procedures used to offer both the manufacturer and his client the confidence in the quality of the finished goods. These specific requirements should be controlled by detailed procedures, local work instructions and forms into a documented system enabling businesses to fully control their manufacturing (and quality).

International Fire Consultants Ltd in association with IFC Certification Ltd, have developed a documented control system to satisfy the requirements of companies seeking to demonstrate that they have the necessary processes, procedures and forms to control the manufacture of timber fire doors for either joinery (or panel doors) or flush doors.

MASTER MANUAL – A TEMPLATE FOR FPC SUCCESS

In order to assist companies who wish to engineer their business processes in such a way as to ensure by documentation: the estimation, design, manufacture and delivery of quality traceable timber fire doors, International Fire Consultants Ltd can supply a master manual which contains the major process templates for a system that complies with the requirements of most FPC systems internationally.

The master copy comes complete with information on how to use the electronic copy and is fully compliant with current and older versions of Microsoft Word.
