The new Fire & Risk Management division of the IFC Group was set up, in part, to provide detailed, specialist technical support to the UK Fire and Rescue Services. The division is led by two high ranking ex-fire service personnel, along with a team of senior engineering staff. IFC is one of the largest independent specialist fire safety engineering and consultancy practices in the world. Well established, IFC is a multi faceted team of fire safety engineers with a wide range of skills and expertise. The team are drawn from Government, scientific establishments, the fire service, industry, commercial testing laboratories and the construction sector. The expertise that IFC is able to provide on the enforcement of fire safety, and the role of fire safety as part of an integrated approach to managing risk by the fire & rescue service, is unique and second to none in the UK. |
This is a time of unprecedented change and development for the fire & rescue services, with the introduction of new legislation, the defining of political structures and the changes to operational and fire safety responsibilities. The changes and developments are a direct response to the modernisation of the fire & rescue service, and the development of Integrated Risk Management Plans. These developments are matched with the inevitable changes to working practices, development and provision of technical advice and guidance, both new and proposed. |
