The National TV and Radio Service in Cyprus, acknowledging the importance of its role in Cypriot society sought professional help to ensure that its studios and administration should not be catastrophically damaged should it be unfortunate enough to suffer a fire. Who did the service commission to help to make them less vulnerable and hopefully able to survive any fire event? …….Intfire (Cyprus) Ltd, the Cyprus based division of the IFC Group. All initial surveying and strategy setting was undertaken by Intfire’s Director, Dr Spyros Spyrou, but when it came to firming up the strategy and generating a solution that meets the client’s needs to avoid broadcast interruption, and which does not compromise the means of escape of the broadcasters and guests, IFC Ltd sent reinforcements. Paul Harris, IFC’s senior Fire Safety Engineering consultant spent a week in Cyprus working alongside Spyros to generate the final Fire Safety Strategy.
The eventual outcome of their deliberations should give the Cyprus National TV and Radio Station the greatest possible opportunity to stay on air providing the continuity of service that we all expect from our TV and Radio networks in the 21st Century.
