Many of the News Items that appear on the IFC site relate to International Fire Consultants Ltd being members of winning teams and 2007 is no exception, except perhaps, we are members of even more winning teams. At the forthcoming LABC National Built-in Quality Awards, IFC engineers have been involved in two schemes that have been nominated for awards. This follows on from the award to Berkeley Homes and Wandsworth Council for Chelsea Bridge Wharf, a major IFC project, at the same event last year.
Perhaps the most prestigious of these nominations is Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead's partnership with Ascot Race Course which has resulted in the spectacular Grandstand Complex. This building achieves acclaim every time a race meeting is held there. IFC were not, on this occasion, part of the Design Team, but were in fact part of the Building Control Team acting as the fire engineering checking authority for the project. With the complexity of modern buildings this is becoming an increasingly important function and it was one that IFC obviously carried out well for the team to be recipients of such a nomination.
However, at the same Awards, Urban Splash have been nominated for the Budenburg project at Altrincham where, in this case, IFC fire safety engineers were inside the Design Team and greatly assisted in achieving Urban Splash's design concept in a fire safe manner. Urban Splash's work is always eye-catching and at the same time functional and IFC are certainly proud to be associated with it. Fortunately the two nominations are in different categories, so one award cannot only succeed at the cost of the other and therefore it does allow IFC the opportunity of being double winners on this occasion.
Are you planning a potential award winning project? If so, why not improve your chances by engaging International Fire Consultants Ltd as part of the team?
