Legislative
A Fire Risk Assessment is a Legal Requirement
under The Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations 1997 (as amended)
and applies to all workplaces.
Would you know where to start?
The Risk Assessment has to address the following
basic essentials:
· The portable fire-fighting equipment
· The fire alarm system
· The fire safety information and training
of persons working on the premises
· The escape routes and emergency exits
· The fire doors and self closing devices
· The automatic door release mechanisms
(where fitted)
· The locks and fastenings fitted to
all doors required for means of escape
· The steps, stairs, floor coverings
and handrails to escape routes
· The special arrangements for ensuring
the safety of handicapped persons
· The fire and emergency signs and notices
· The emergency escape lighting
· The maintenance arrangements for equipment
and devices listed above
· The arrangement of furniture and fittings
· The adequacy and integrity of fire
separation
· The risk to life
· The fire hazards
We can undertake an independent Fire Risk Assessment
of your premises to help you comply with the requirements of
this Legislation.
Building Performance. Are you
concerned that your premises are adequately safeguarded against
the spread of fire? Most companies suffering
a major fire do not recover from the collateral and consequential
losses.
We can undertake a Risk Assessment, using the
Building Fire Performance Evaluation Method
(BFPEM)
and can identify the strengths and weaknesses
in the fire defence of your building and business.
We can then offer alternative suggestions on
ways of reducing those risks so that your exposure to fire is
reduced to a manageable level.
