How confident are you that your business
continues to meet the basic fire safety requirements?
An occupied building suffers wear and tear from
changes to processes and personnel. The following are some of the
factors that may render the original fire safety standards less
than adequate:
- Fire doors having worn hinges, latches and self-closing devices.
Intumescent and cold smoke seals damaged or worn, door and
frame structures damaged.
- Fire compartment walls, floors and ceilings damaged by the
introduction of new or replacement electrical or mechanical
services.
- Fire safety signs and notices no longer meeting the current
Legislative standards.
- Portable fire fighting equipment incorrectly located or
poorly maintained.
- Fire alarm and fire suppression systems that have been compromised
by building alterations.
- Emergency escape lighting that does not meet current standards
for coverage, illumination and maintenance.
- Changes in personnel that have not taken account of fire
safety training and instruction.
- Process changes that have introduced new hazards.
- Increase or changes in staff numbers that render existing
means of escape inadequate.
We can undertake an independent Survey, Inspection
or Audit on any specific matter so as to advise you of any areas
that are considered less than adequate and so enable you to comply
with the requirements of current Legislation.
Even if you complete the purchase of any property,
IFC are available to undertake a due diligence survey, covering
all of the above points.
Should you decide to develop your property or refurbish it IFC can conduct
a condition survey looking more in depth at compartmentation and the
passive fire protection elements.
